IU undergraduate students Katy, Kelby, Quinn and Zach stop by the studio to talk about the generation gap they perceive exists between younger and older individuals in our culture and make some suggestions to help with improving communication.  Local performer Jaddy Ciucci and IU theatre/drama major and performer Caty Natt are in studio to tell listeners about this year’s Bloomington Playwrights Project “Sex/Death: Ladies Night” running nightly at 11 pm 8-15 December.  President of Pride Lafayette Bryan Bell discusses the importance of pride organizations and LGBT centers in establishing and maintaining a strong presence in communities and provides some suggestions in synergizing established groups to continue to grow.  Featured artist is openly gay ex-Mormon singer/songwriter Justin Utley. Musical selection is “Runaway.”

Bloomington High School North counselor Greg Chaffin and local attorney Sean Lemieux discuss the increase in bullying of gay students this academic year at local schools and administrative responses as well as legal alternatives for victims and their families on a new edition of “Youth in Peril.” Retired Army Major General Dennis Laich and co-chair of the Military Advisory Council of the Servicemembers Legal Defense Network talks about the “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy, current status of repeal legislation and the impact a repeal would have on the military code of conduct. Four Indiana University students share their thoughts, feelings and insights about the LGBTQI community following a ten-week class assignment that required them to shadow bloomingOUT.

Conversation with native New Yorkers and current Atlanta GA based lesbian hip hop duo Nor and IQ from Kin4Life about their musical career, future goals and upcoming US tour beginning next month.  Musical selections are “Make Up Girl” and “So Incredible.”   Indianapolis LGBT Film Festival Director Royce Cole Junior and actor, author, star of the festival premier film “Violet Tendencies” Jessie Archer discuss the highlights of this year’s festival beginning Friday 12 November as well as Archer’s career successes.   Stage actor, writer and improvisational comedic actor Kevin Thornton talks about his career transitioning from performances such as “Sex, Dreams & Self Control” to his new stint as a standup comedian performing in Indianapolis on 16 November at the ComedySportz Theatre.  Tri-State Alliance President Wally Paynter provides some disappointing election results from the Evansville IN area but also talks about their HIV/AIDS fund raising efforts and positive community response from the new Safe Zone initiative to begin next month.

IU Associate Professor in Communication and Culture Javier Ramirez talks about growing up in Texas with two moms and related issues of racism and homophobia.  Tri-State LGBT Families founding member Angela Smith provides information about this new all-inclusive organization for LGBT families in the Indiana, Ohio and Kentucky tri state area and highlights their fall festival to be held in Lawrenceburg IN this coming weekend.  Region 10 representative from the Indiana HIV Consumer Advisory Bureau Kevin Phelps provides information about the social and support services they provide for HIV/AIDS clients in south central Indiana. Local Bloomington author Joy Laughter stops by to talk about her award winning book entitled “YU: A Ross Lamos Mystery that includes a ‘karmic detective” who is a post-modern gay man and an expert art dealer with a psychic touch who solves ancient crimes in present times from the Imperial Court of China’s Han Dynasty to Seattle WA – USA. Featured artist is Italian-American singer/songwriter Kyle Puccia who discusses his career and transition from major musical stage productions to his current recording career.  Musical selection is “Message” from his “Bipolar Part One” cd.
